Story

Athili Sathibabu (Allari Naresh) is a stingy guy and a ruthless money lender charging high rate of interest at Rs. 10 at every one 100 on a daily interest rate. He gives preferences to money over relations and love. He goes to the extent of buying his brothers share of ancestral property and then drive them away. He falls in love with a beautician (Kausha) by ignoring a village belle (Vidisha) who falls head over heel for him. The rest of the story is all about how he realizes the importance of love and relationships.

Artists Performance

Allari Naresh suited the role of a ruthless money lender well. Vidisha is prim as village belle. Kausha adds some spice to the movie in the role of beautician. Krishna Bhagawan steals the show with his proxy municipal chairman position. Abhinaya Sri got a meaty role that requires skin show. Sunil and Raghubabu are adequate as brothers of Naresh. Kota gave voice-over to the story. Brahmanandam, Ali and Chalapati Rao suited the roles.

Technical Departments:

Screenplay - direction: EVV followed the familiar style of establishing the negative part of hero in comedy orientation in the first half and slowly creating situations for hero to realize his bad quality in the second half. Story of the film follows the style of EVV?s ?Appula Appa Rao?. The direction of the film is dealt in a typical EVV comedy style by surpassing all logics and character establishments.

Other departments: Music should have been better. The songs appear as speed breakers in the film rather than going well with the narration. Dialogues of the film are pretty witty. The concept of outer ring road, 2nd SRC, international airport, fab city and road widening for Athili evoked good response. The most hilarious and entertaining dialogue of the film is -

Analysis: First half of the film is entertaining. There is lag in the second half and director goes into preaching mode towards climax. Showing heroine with tonsured head at the end is funny instead of evoking seriousness. Incidentally, the obscenity level in this film is pretty less compared to EVV?s earlier films. On a whole, Athili Sathibabu is a typical EVV comedy film that is targeted towards masses and B,C center crowds. Since the film is made on ultra-low budget, this film will be a minimum guarantee one for the producer and buyers.
